You need to see a gynocologist. They will give you something to stop the bleeding. But they will also want to do some tests to determine if you have fibroids or polyps (common in women our age). The doctor will determine how best to treat the problem. In my case, I had polyps, which didn't show up on the ultrasound they did. So I had a D&C done and also they did an endometrial ablation procedure called "NovaSure" (Outpatient surgery). It fixed me right up and I was feeling really good within a couple of weeks.
I'm not sure I understand your question but if you are having continual bleeding lasting longer than normal, you could have fibroids or another condition that will need medical attention. My mom had that when she was about your age and she had to have treatment.
I hope you are not intending to buy medication over the counter. I had this problem 3 years ago, didn't stop bleeding for over 2 weeks, sometimes heavy flow, sometimes light, with clots of blood. My doctor scolded me for going to him so late as, according to him, this kind of case could be life threatening, I hope this is not your case but do go and see your doctor.
You might be beginning the next phase of your life called menopause. This is one of the many wonderful symptoms of menopause.
