I'm still not used to my periods...?

Its been 6 yrs since I first got my period. Its been regular ever since... but every month I get sick and many times have to miss work cuz of cramps. Why am I still not used to them? Shouldn't I be completely used to them now that I'm almost 19? When did u get used to it ?I'm still not used to my periods...?
Trust me girl...I feel the exact same way....my cramps feel like someones punching me in the stomach and I just wanna crawl in a little ball for the rest of the time. I was on birthcontrol and that helped a LITTLE ...I mean I at least knew when my period would be...but I could also kind of prepare w/ midol or excedrin (which at least took my headache away) just drink pleny of fluids and rest and hopefully that helps :)
You will never get used to them if you have pain only thing is you may endure them.
I know Exactly how you feel, I started the beginning of 6th grade and by my Junior year in highschool still was getting sick and had horrible cramps i started taking birth control to help with that, it made it lighter and i hardly ever have cramps except mayble like 2 days but they are very mild.
