I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant and I've had a headache for the last week. Should I see my doctor right away?

I've been told that I could take regular strength Tylonal but I'm tired of taking it everyday, everyday.I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant and I've had a headache for the last week. Should I see my doctor right away?
If you've not experienced any relief for a week using Tylenol, resting, and applying cool compresses to your head, it's probably time to be evaluated. One of the concerns with headaches in pregnancy has to do with increased blood pressure. You are, however, early enough in the pregnancy that this isn't likely the cause. You haven't described migraine symptoms but women who do suffer from migraines often find they occur more frequently in pregnancy due to the hormonal shifts. There are a couple of other things that may be helpful but different ob's have different parameters of what they allow in their practices and I don't want to recommend something that your doc doesn't. Again, because it has been unrelenting for a week, it's time to be seen for it. Take care.
Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
